This old P REG Vauxhall Astra has arrived as a scrapper in Metro Salvage. Because the car is so old and does not run the only use we have for it is for the scrap metal. No longer a road legal car because it is of MOT. Needless to say it is never going to see another day on the road. It is now going to be put through a rigorous depollution process. All power sources such as batteries will be removed. Then all fuel and harmful chemicals such as oil and brake fluid are removed. Following that he tyres are put into a separate skip for collection and then last but not least the car is crushed into a cube.

We got this car in one of the many auctions we are involved with. We were the highest bidder and know it is in our yard breaking for spares. The engine and gearbox are in perfect working order. The engine is a 1.6 litre petrol and in perfect condition. We have run it up to temperature and had our mechanic give it the all clear for resale. The gearbox is a semi-automatic 6 speed. It has also been tested through every gear and been given the all clear.

This is the mk1 first generation Ford Focus. Made and released in 1998 the Focus was an exceptional car at its time. With the massive headlights shaped into the bonnet and no other car had anything close to this design. Everybody wanted one, so when it was released the sales rocketed. But it is in a bit of a sorrowful state now as the gearbox has blown and the Focus had to be recovered to our scrapyard. It is a bit of a bleak future for this ford because the only thing that is going to happen to it is to be broke for spare car parts.
The Peugeot 206 is a bit of an interesting model. It didn’t really have much change in the car in a full 10 years. In fact the only change they did make was a bit of a cheap facelift in 2003. Proving to be an outstanding first car if you was 17 and couldn’t afford anything else. This means they sold millions. With the engine ranging from a tiny 1.0 litre to an impressive 2.0 litre engine. It didn’t matter if you was 21 or 36 because they had a 206 to suit you. And because so many of these cars were sold in the late 90’s and early 2000. It seems like they have all of a sudden they have all just broken down in one year. Because at our scrap yard over the last 15 month they have been ten a penny. Check out this 2003 MG TF Cool Blue with a blue finish at Metro Salvage’s car breakers. This MG is a 1.8 litre 134BHP petrol that we will now be breaking. With a maximum speed for 127 MPH and a average fuel consumption of about 47 MPG it is surely not a bad car. This 2 door fuel injected convertible will be put on one of our car racks and the engine will be removed for resale. The engine code is 18K4F and it is naturally aspirated. This little cherry of a car came in not to long ago and as you can see on the picture it is ready to have it's engone removed by the monster of a grab what we call T-REX. Once the engine has been removed it will be stripped of the good condition car parts and then crushed into a cube. Then that will be shipped out for recycling. This Volkswagen Passat Sport TDI is here at our scrap car specialists today. Although back in its hey day of 1997 when the car was first registered. It is now not a pretty sight much like most of my work colleagues. Looking a little tattered around the edges but mainly a good car to the previous owner. Until one day when the clutch went, it is not a major problem but considering its age the owner thought best to turn it in to the metro salvage scrap yard. Probably being the wise decision at that. The owner was happy with the price we paid him and following a swift hand shake the car was collected from Accrington from his home address and with the DVLA paperwork sorted before we knew it was sitting in our yard for breaking.
