How Does The Collection Process Work?

Vehicle collection couldnt be easier with Metro Salvage. All you need to do is fill out one of our online forms and then wait for a call from one of our representatives. They will then come and check the vehicle and make a formal offer. A more in depth page explaining the vehicle collection process is available.

What type of vehicles do you accept?

At Metro Salvage we mainly accept cars and vans however if you have a special request then please feel free to call us.

Do you sell spare parts?

At Metro Salvage we mainly focus on scrapping parts for metal however we do sell parts to members of the public. If you are interested in a particular part then please call us on 01204 388 488.

What is a certificate of destruction?

A certificate of destruction is an important piece of legal documentation that states that your vehicle has been destructed in a lawful and environmentally friendly manner. Without proper de-registration of your vehicle you could be fined under new laws. Its also important as if you dont have this documentation then you are still legally responsible for the vehicle. This could cause problems if your scrap parts are stolen and used for criminal activities. If you dont recieve a certificate of destruction from us within 10 days please let us know.

What is an ELV?

ELV stands for End of Life Vehicle and refers to a car that is ready to be scrapped or salvaged. At Metro Salvage we are experts in end of life vehicles. For further information on end of life vehicles or vehicle de-pollution please follow the link.

What areas do you cover?

Metro Salvage Ltd are based in Bolton and mainly operate within the north west however we can pickup vehicles across the UK. If you are interested in scrapping your car then please fill out one of our online forms and one of our representitives will be able to discuss whether a pickup in your location is possible.

Do you recycle cars?

We recycle cars in environmentally friendly ways and try to re-use parts wherever possible. All vehicles are dismantled carefully and we dispose of all chemicals safely. If you would like to find out more about our car recycling then we have a dedicated page on our processes.

Do you require a vehicle log book?

We would usually recommend that you have a fully detailed log book however we can take vehicles even when you dont have a log book.

Does my vehicle need to be in an accessible location to be collected?

All vehicles will be picked using one of our standard recovery vehicles. Therefore any vehicle that you want to dispose of must be accessible using this vehicle. The ground needs to be steady and have clear access. Ideally vehicles would be situated on a road somewhere.

Do i need to provide the keys for my vehicle?

Ideally we would want the keys to the vehicle however we can still work with vehicles that dont have keys. We need to be able to access the inside of the vehicle with out the need to break into it.

What vehicles qualify for the process?

The qualification process is done an a case by case basis as the amount of damage and condition of cars differ significally. We usually take most vehicles.
