Vehicle Salvage

Vehicle salvage is often thought of as a heap of metal which has no value and cannot be driven. This is in fact a common misconception and vehicle salvage can rightly be a heap of metal but still have plenty of value. More often than not you will find that a car is damaged and can be repaired.

Although its difficult to pen an exact definition classifications or categories can be applied to motor vehicle salvage.

Category A

Vehicles that fall into this category are ones where the cost of fixing them outweighs the value of the car and work will ammount to a financial loss. Vehicles in this category have no value but on occassion parts can be re-used.

Category B

Similar to category A however the car parts from these vehicles can be solid for a small profit.

Category C

This is where a vehicle can be repaired and bring its owners a profit. The damage can be significant but it will still be fixable to a road worthy state.

Category D

Vehicles in this category are always repairable and the cost of the repairs will be less than the vehicles pre-sale value. Damage on these vehicles is less than those found in category C.

Category X

This is the best type of vehicle salvage as the car has little or no damage. Vehicles in this category are usually stolen recovered or unclassified as being involved in an incident. These are high profit vehicles.

At Metro Salvage we use these classifications to analyse vehicles and provide customers with good value.
